The General Conference mandate of 1996 requires all United Methodist Churches to implement policies and procedures to prevent the risk of abuse of children, youth and vulnerable adults.
Main Street enforces and regularly reviews all Safe Sanctuary Policies and conducts mandatory training sessions for any individual working with these groups.
One factor in Safe Sanctuaries policies is the utilization of national background checks to screen staff and volunteer candidates before they supervise children, youth or vulnerable adults. The Western NC Conference partners with People Facts (formerly known as Trak-1Â Technologies), an accredited provider of background screening, to safely and securely screen employees, contractors and volunteers.
Main Street offers several classes on Sunday morning for all ages so that each person can engage with others regarding his/her relationship with Jesus Christ and how to become the best possible disciple of the same Lord!
Please note the following information:
We offer a nursery for our youngest children birth to 4yrs. Our Nursery Coordinator, Eileen has been with us over 20 years caring and nurturing our little ones. At 10:30, the nursery children will also enjoy a bible story read to them.
We have a class for elementary age children each Sunday beginning at 9:45a and a class for youth at the same time. Our teachers are always eager to connect with young minds/spirits over matters of faith development and how to become more integrated into the faith community.
Each Sunday morning during the worship hour, we also offer a Children's Message. Children are encouraged to come down front for the message. After the message, children 4 and younger may return to the nursery or remain in the sanctuary where they are always welcome.
