What We Believe
We believe that Jesus Christ was and is God’s ultimate and final revelation of God’s self to humankind. We believe that, through the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ, sins are forgiven and everlasting life granted. We believe that the Holy Spirit is God in Christ with us constantly.
Our Faith
We are United Methodists steeped in Methodist history, heritage, and theology. Like our founder, John Wesley, we believe that the two greatest commandments of Jesus, Love of God and Love for Others, should be lived out in our daily lives.
Our Purpose
The sole purpose of any church is our purpose as well. It is simply to bring people to Jesus Christ and His Church. The only reason the Church exists is to introduce people to Christ. When a church ceases to do this and turns inward on itself, it ceases being the church.
Our Vision
Our vision is to be a church for all of God’s children young, old, anyone and everyone. Our vision is also to grow numerically and spiritually. Our vision is to bring people of all ages to Christ and nurture them in Christian faith. Our vision includes the United Methodist montra for the past few years, Open Minds, Open Hearts, Open Door.
Our Mission
The Mission of Main Street United Methodist Church is to be a growing fellowship of loving, faithful, praying disciples of Jesus Christ.
As a Community of Faith we believe in the Word of God, revealed in Scripture, and in the Person of Jesus, guiding us in faith and life.
We believe that we are called to nurture, encourage, care for and minister to all persons.
We believe that we are to encourage one another to grow in spiritual wholeness, always remembering that we are committed to expressing the love of Christ in the world.
Our Values
Human dignity: We believe that God endows each person with dignity and moral responsibility. We are to respect all individuals because they are our brothers and sisters. They are created in the image of God. Christ died and rose for everyone. We should respect everyone. We should not be prejudiced against people because they are different.
We also value the created order and seek to be good stewards of the good earth.
Our Doctrine
We believe the Church is a community of all true believers under the Lordship of Christ. The Church is to be inclusive it is Universal. There is one body of Christ The Church Universal. We profess the historic Christian faith in God, incarnate in Jesus Christ for our salvation and ever at work in human history in the Holy Spirit. We believe in the triune God Father, Son, Holy Spirit. We hold in common with all Christians a faith in the mystery of salvation in and through Jesus Christ. We share the Christian belief that God’s redemptive love is realized in human life by the activity of the Holy Spirit, both in personal experience and in the community of believers. We understand ourselves to be part of Christ’s Universal Church when by adoration, proclamation, and service, we become conformed to Christ. With other Christians we recognize that the reign of God is both a present and future reality.
